Designed by Eye In The Sky, the two Jungle Bubbles sit on raised wooden decks and are constructed from high tech polyester fabric. These fully-air conditioned, 235-square-foot rooms make the perfect places for stargazing and up-close elephant watching. Each bubble includes a bedroom and living space with a king bed and seating area, as well as an enclosed en-suite shower and vanity. Guests can also enjoy all the luxury amenities of the Elephant Camp, which sits perched on a hill overlooking the Mekong and Ruak rivers.

It’s an innovative experience that only enhances the 160-acre elephant camp in Chiang Rai. Working alongside the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, the resort helps provide support and income not only for the 22 elephants who live there, but also for the local trainers (mahouts) who care for them. The elephants on the resort have all been rescued from the city streets of Thailand and given the opportunity to live out their days in their natural habitats.

Unique Hotels in Thailand

The Elephant Camp also has a research center about the uses of elephants in therapy for autistic children and trains mahouts in positive reinforcement techniques. Additionally, they give back to the mahout families by offering English lessons, education for the children, and 100% of the profits from the sale of garments from a traditional silkworm business.

By expanding their offerings to include the Jungle Bubbles, the resort continues to innovate in the sector. They hope that theirs will be an example other elephant camps will follow when thinking of how to allow the public to engage with elephants in a non-invasive way.

Guests at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort can purchase the Jungle Bubble experience as an optional activity and spend the night from dusk till dawn, returning to the hotel in the morning. Rates start from 17,700 Thai Baht (about $570 US) per night for two people and include a delectable dinner basket, a fully stocked mini-bar, 24-hour in-room dining service, and tea and coffee making facilities.

A resort in Thailand is offering guests the opportunity to observe elephants up-close from transparent bubbles.

These Jungle Bubbles give a once-in-a-lifetime chance to interact with wildlife without disturbing their normal routine.
