Heartwarming Photos of Newborn Babies Snuggling With Baby Animals

By Emma Taggart on April 17, 2020

Newborn photography is a special art form, and London-based photographer Sujata Setia has mastered the craft. She creates “lasting memories of [life’s] most cherished moments” with her adorable photos of weeks-old babies, peacefully snuggled up beside tiny baby animals. From sleepily smiling infants with snoozing puppies to giggly little ones next to days-old ducklings, each image celebrates the bond between people and pets.

Seita’s photography journey began when she became a mother herself. She loved taking photos of her daughter Aayat, but it wasn’t until her baby was a year and half years old that she decided to turn her passion into a full-time career. Today, Seita is a renowned family photographer, working all over the world to capture people’s special memories in her distinct, warmly-lit style.

Setia’s decision to add animals to her photos was inspired by her own dog, Mustang. During past photoshoots, parents often asked to include the cute studio pooch into photographs with their children. Mustang has since passed away, but Setia continues to include animals in her newborn shots, highlighting the adorable bond between the two. Setia tells My Modern Met, “I try to make sure the animals being used in the images are owned by the parents of the child itself.”

As you can imagine, there’s a lot that goes into capturing Setia’s super-cute photos. “The room where the shoot is conducted is reasonably warm so that both the baby and the fur baby feel cozy and almost like they are wrapped in a warm blanket…so I tell you, us grown ups are drenched in sweat by the end of this shoot,” reveals Setia. “There just have to be a lot of protective hands around the baby and the fur baby. I have me, my assistant, and both parents of the baby always with their hands around the baby to make sure of safety measures.”

After making sure both the baby and animal are happy and comfortable, Setia has to work quickly to capture the perfect picture. “The moment they are still, that very moment, the shot has to be taken, the shoot is wrapped,” explains Setia. “You can’t spend hours mulling over if you have got the perfect shot or not. It just has to be super quick.” Setia’s hard work definitely pays off—each photo is sure to be cherished by parents for a lifetime.
